The Flamingo Blue Design Hawaiian Shirt known as the Aloha shirt, is one of the typical cultural symbols of the Hawaiian Islands. Designed with colorful, bright and varied patterns, Hawaiian shirts have become an integral part of the culture and lifestyle of the locals. The history of Hawaiian shirts began in the 1920s when locals started creating shirts with Hawaiian island motifs. Since then, Hawaiian shirts have become an important part of casual wear as well as reception attire and corporate uniforms on the island.

After Flamingo Blue Design Hawaiian Shirt Dale Hope gathered information to write a book on the origin of Hawaiian shirts titled “The Aloha Shirt” with the above information, former Honolulu city president Herman Lemke reached out to Dale to introduced him to another character – Rube Hauseman. After Ellery Chun’s death, Rube said that he designed the Hawaiian shirt in 1935 from the Fuji silk fabric he bought from the tailor Musa-Shiya. After completing the first Hawaiian shirt designs, he gave them to famous surfers of the time such as the Waikiki Beach Boys, Panama Dave, Colgate and “Chick”. They often wear them every time they go to a bar in the city called Rathskellar. Therefore, these shirt designs were once called Rathskellar shirts instead of Hawaiian shirts (Honolulu Star Bulletin, January 1953).
